The Dominican Nuns arrive in 1863 Under the impulse of Fr. de Pontonx, priest of the parish, "Saint Vincent de Xaintes",
a new religious community starts up and continues the long tradition
which had been interrupted.
Fr. de Pontonx restores the old property of the Poor Clares.
Then, on December 16th 1863, a group of Dominican Nuns coming from the Monastery of Nay (Pyrénées Atlantiques) arrives at the Railway station of Dax.
The Monastery of Nay
A new monastery of Dominican Nuns is born.
It is placed under the patronage of Saint Joseph.
This oasis of contemplative life will develop with the approval and the support of the bishop of the diocese, Mgr Epivent.
