Foundation

The monastery of Dominican Nuns in Dax gave birth to new foundations from the very beginning.
In 1864 the community started to participate in the foundation of the monastery of Chinon ("Indre et Loire").
The monastery of Dax formed a sister who was intended for the monastery and they also sent one of their own. This sister would later on, in 1868, found the monastery of Ouillins (Rhône).

The monastery of Oullins was moved to Chalais (Isère) in 1964 and the monastery of Chinon was merged with that of Chalais in 1966. In 1939, two Portuguese sisters in Dax tried to found a new monastery in their own country, but this foundation did not last.

In 1958, the former Prioress left Dax with several sisters to found a monastery in the Indian Ocean on "Ile de la Réunion" (Saint Denis).

This monastery was canonically erected in 1964 and still exists today.
